Dental CAD Design Services — The Consistency Tier

A decade of outsourced dental design has left most labs describing it, in their own words, as terrible and inconsistent. The commodity tier exists — AI now designs a crown for two dollars. We sell the other tier: design that needs no second pass, on cases where a remake costs more than a year of licences.

What we take on

Crown & bridge

Consistency-tier design to your parameters, your libraries, your preferences file. Same designer conventions from case one to case one thousand.

Implant & full-arch

Screw-retained crowns, custom hybrid abutments, All-on-X — the premium work where design quality decides profitability and remake exposure.

The messy ones

Cases stalled by library or scan-body mismatches. We verify the compatibility chain before designing. Other services bounce these back.

Full-arch work is where design quality decides profitability — and where we live.

How it works

1

Send the case

Any format — native exocad, native 3Shape, raw STL plus clinical photos. No portal to learn.

2

We verify the library chain first

Implant system, scan body revision, printable analog — confirmed before design starts, not after a failed seat.

3

Design delivered to SLA

To your parameters, in the format your mill or printer expects. Per-case quote, answered same day.

Why the consistency tier

A working price ladder exists in dental CAD. Two-dollar AI designs and five-dollar offshore designs are real, and they have their place — high volume, low complexity, cases where a lab designer will review and correct the output anyway.

Labs pay the premium tier for a different outcome: designs that go straight to production, protect chair time and protect the remake budget. On a single-unit crown, one avoided seat appointment is more than a year of the price difference. On an implant or full-arch case, one avoided remake is more than a year of subscriptions.

We do not publish prices at launch — case complexity varies too widely. Per-case quote, answered the same day.

Choosing between design services

Four questions to ask any dental CAD design service before the first case. Ask us the same ones.

  • Is the turnaround SLA written into the case quote, or a marketing average across an opaque tier system?
  • Is implant library verification included, or billed separately when a case does not open cleanly?
  • Who owns a remake caused by a design error — cost and turnaround?
  • Is design output consistent across designers on the service, or does quality depend on which technician picks up the case?

Platform-owned design services attached to scanner or CAD vendors tend to be weakest on the first two: turnaround tiers are opaque, and cross-platform coverage is limited by the vendor's own supported systems. For a broader view of where the ecosystem fragments, see our implant libraries reference and the digital dental lab guide.

For clinics

Design-on-demand sits behind your existing lab relationship. We work with your lab, not around it. The clinician keeps one point of contact; the lab gets a designer they can call when a case needs the tier we sell.

Frequently asked questions

Which software do you design in?

exocad and 3Shape as first-class platforms. We accept cases in native exocad, native 3Shape, raw intraoral scan exports (STL, PLY) and clinical photos. If you need the case back in a specific format for your mill or printer, tell us and we deliver in that format.

What are your turnaround times?

Standard SLA is 24 to 48 hours for single units and small bridges, 48 to 72 hours for implant and full-arch cases. Rush work is quoted per case. Every SLA is confirmed in writing on the case quote before design starts.

What if the implant library for my case is broken or missing?

We verify the compatibility chain — implant system, scan body revision, printable analog — before designing. If the library is broken or missing, we identify and repair it, then design. Cases most services bounce back untouched are the ones we take on.

Do you replace my current design workflow or back it up?

Either. Most labs use us as overflow behind an in-house designer, or as the tier that handles implant and complex work. Some clinics use us behind their existing lab. We work with your setup, not around it.
