Official library sources

exocad

Official source: hiossen.com/download/digital-library/

Access: Distributed directly by the manufacturer's regional subsidiaries rather than only via exocad. Hiossen (US) hosts 'Library for Exocad' (Hiossen-Exocad-Library_V4.7z) on its Digital Library page; Osstem UK hosts a 516MB exocad package at osstemuk.com/libraries; Hiossen Canada hosts separate exocad packages for the old vs. new ET/TS scan body. exocad's own library portal (exocad.com/integration/dentalcad-library-integration) additionally lets license holders request library packages using an exocad serial number and email (permanent DentalCAD license with active upgrade contract, or Flex license).

Library components use the OST_TS_* naming scheme (e.g., OST_TS_SB_CU custom-abutment scan body, OST_TS_DLA_V1 digital lab analog, OST_TS_LinkSB_LI_V1 link scan body). Installation per Hiossen Canada: unzip the whole library folder and copy it into the exocad program folder. exocad's exoplan supported-library lists also include HiOssen ETIII and ETIV implant lines for guided workflows.

3Shape

Official source: hiossen.com/download/digital-library/

Access: 3Shape DME files are distributed by the manufacturer, not through 3Shape: Hiossen (US) hosts 'Library for 3Shape' (HIOSSEN-DME202503_V1-1.zip); Osstem UK hosts a 231MB 3Shape package at osstemuk.com/libraries; Hiossen Canada hosts per-abutment DME downloads split into old-scan-body and new-scan-body versions.

The new-scan-body 3Shape DME set (e.g., OST_TS_SBO_CU_R2 for custom abutments) is documented with 'one DME file for all sizes'; it covers custom, link, transfer, angled, multi and multi-angled abutments and specifies a titanium scan body with metallic connector in short/long configurations.

Third-party providers

ProviderNotes
Medentika (Straumann Group)OT-Series is Medentika's line compatible with the Osstem TS system; includes titanium scan bodies (implant-level and multi-unit) with laser-marked compatibility identification.
DESS Dental14 Osstem TS-compatible product families (Ti-Bases, ANGLEBase, analogs/digital analogs, pre-milled blanks, scan bodies). Scan bodies sold as Mini (52.072) and Standard (52.073), titanium with ZrN coating; CAD/CAM libraries via the DESS downloads section.
NT-tradingHIO-Series components compatible with Hiossen/Osstem TS; PEEK 3D-Guide scan bodies with libraries for 3Shape, exocad, Dental Wings and Delcam (catalog p.136).
Dynamic Abutment SolutionsOsstem TS covered in DAS library codes: DAS_I_0029 (Mini, Ø3.5) and DAS_I_0030 (Regular, Ø4/4.5/5/6/7); multi-unit codes DAS_MU_0029/0030; libraries available for exocad and 3Shape.
Elos Medtech (Elos Accurate)Hiossen listed among supported major implant systems; open libraries stated for 3Shape, exocad and Dental Wings; scan bodies rated for reuse up to 100 times or 2 years.
TruAbutmentHiossen Implant Canada hosts a TruAbutment digital lab analog and scan body library for the Hiossen system (page content not independently verified).

Scan bodies

  • The OEM ET/TS scan body was revised around 2022 (Osstem published a 'New Scan Body TS' document, 2022, noting a separately sold carrier); Hiossen Implant Canada hosts parallel 'OLD SCANBODY' and 'NEW SCANBODY' library downloads for both exocad and 3Shape, so labs must match the library package to the scan body generation physically in hand.
  • The new-scan-body 3Shape DME set is documented with 'one DME file for all sizes' per abutment type, replacing per-size files; the scan body is titanium with a metallic connector, in short and long configurations.
  • OEM scan bodies are platform-specific: Mini (Ø3.5) and Regular (Ø4.0–6.0/7.0) versions are sold separately (mirrored by third parties, e.g., DESS 52.072 Mini / 52.073 Standard).
  • Third-party scan bodies with their own libraries exist from Medentika (OT-Series, titanium), DESS (titanium ZrN-coated), NT-trading (HIO-Series, PEEK), and Elos Accurate (Hiossen listed among supported systems).

Documented pitfalls

Community-reported and support-documented issues — the kind that stall real cases.

  • Community-reported (Dental Lab Network): the Osstem TS exocad library has caused Model Creator failures, including a 'no model analog file available' error when building models from libraries downloaded via exocad/Hiossen.
  • Community-reported (Dental Lab Network, 2022): labs receiving the revised 2022 Hiossen ET scan body could not align it against the older library folder supplied by Hiossen — the scan body shape/size differed from the library geometry — until the matching new-scan-body library was used.
  • Community-reported (Dental Lab Network): on a Hiossen case in 3Shape, the lab analog was placed above tissue level relative to the physical model during model building despite rescanning and scanner calibration.
  • Library distribution is fragmented across regional subsidiaries (hiossen.com US, osstemuk.com UK, hiossenimplantcanada.ca Canada, and other regional Osstem sites) with different package versions and file splits (old vs. new scan body), so the correct package depends on region and scan body generation; older forum reports also describe Osstem reps declining to provide libraries/scan bodies while promoting Osstem's own milling service.
