Access: Serial-number gated on exocad.com: libraries are requested with an exocad serial/dongle number and email, and require a permanent DentalCAD license with active upgrade contract or a Flex license. Also installable via the in-software Library Manager. Neodent additionally distributes library files from its own CAD/CAM Library page (straumann.com Neodent site, Download Center > CAD/CAM Library).
exocad's portal lists Neodent (JJGC Industria e Comercio de Materiais Dentarios S.A.) packages as of July 2026: 'Neodent exocad libraries' (17 libraries), 'Neodent Legacy' (6), 'Neodent Lab Analog FDA' (5, for Model Creator), and 'Neodent FDA' (2); described as titanium-base and premill-blank workflows. exocad warns that Legacy packages are not fully compatible with current software versions.

Access: Neodent's CAD/CAM Library page (healthcare-professional gated) is the manufacturer's distribution point; the US site path is /neodent/us/en/professionals/download-center/cad-cam-library.html (older deep links now 404 after a site restructure). In 3Shape Dental System, libraries are imported via Control Panel > Tools > Download Center; libraries not enabled on the dongle appear greyed out and must be enabled via Site Connection Administration or support@3shape.com.
Neodent's official Digital Solutions brochure lists 3Shape, exocad, Dental Wings, and CARES Visual as supported CAD software for the GM digital workflow. 3Shape also sells its own multi-use autoclavable titanium '3Shape Intraoral Scanbody for Neodent' with TRIOS auto-recognition. Labs report Straumann/Neodent support will email DME download links on request (community-reported).

Scan bodies
- OEM options span two levels: the Neodent Intraoral Scanbody (PEEK, sterile, single-patient use, for implant- and abutment-level impressions, auto-recognized in CARES Visual) and abutment-level scanbodies for the GM Mini/Micro Conical Abutment workflow; the titanium Neodent Smart Abutment (single-use) can also serve as an implant-level intraoral scanbody (Neodent Digital Solutions brochure).
- 3Shape markets its own '3Shape Intraoral Scanbody for Neodent' - multiple-use, autoclavable, titanium, implant-level, with TRIOS auto-recognition - distinct from Neodent's single-use PEEK scanbody (Neodent Digital Solutions brochure).
- Lab and intraoral scanbody SKUs are distinct (3DL lists 108.181 GM Scanbody lab-side vs 108.207 GM Implant Scanbody intraoral, plus 108.218 Mini Conical Abutment Scanbody and others) and are not interchangeable - the wrong choice mismatches the CAD library (3dlmi.com Neodent compatibility page, verified against manufacturer docs 2026-05).
- Third-party GM scan bodies are available from DESS ('Scan abutment compatible with Neodent Grand Morse'), Elos Accurate (IO Scan Body for Grand Morse and GM Micro/Mini Abutment levels), and Medentika (GM Series Scanbody).
Documented pitfalls
Community-reported and support-documented issues — the kind that stall real cases.
- Implant-level and abutment-level (GM Mini/Micro Conical) workflows use separate scan bodies and separate CAD libraries; selecting the wrong level in exocad/3Shape produces mismatched components (3DL compatibility notes; Neodent brochure structure).
- Community-reported (Dental Lab Network, 2021): official Neodent libraries do not permit in-house milling of direct-to-implant/direct-connection bars on GM Mini Conical Abutments - such designs are routed to Straumann centralized milling; labs discuss an unvalidated workaround exploiting the Nobel multi-unit-compatible top geometry (top geometry only).
- Community-reported (Dental Lab Network): downloading Neodent libraries from within exocad has failed for some labs; downloading from the Neodent/Straumann CAD-CAM library page or a link emailed by Straumann support worked instead. Note the Straumann site has since been restructured and older download deep-links now return 404 - the current path is the Neodent site's Download Center > CAD/CAM Library.
- Grand Morse is not cross-compatible with Neodent's legacy Cone Morse (CM) or external-hex lines, and community consensus is that GM has no cross-compatibility with other implant systems - the Neodent line and platform must be confirmed from the surgical report before choosing a library (Dental Lab Network threads).
